XRP news today is unusually crowded with consequential developments: a Ripple-backed treasury company just landed on Nasdaq, a decade-old ledger vulnerability has been patched and disclosed, Standard Chartered went live with institutional stablecoin custody on the XRP Ledger, and Ripple signed its fourth Korean institutional deal of the year — all while the token itself trades near its lowest levels in months.
The single biggest story is the Nasdaq debut of Evernorth under the ticker XRPN.
Evernorth completed its SPAC merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II, bringing 473 million XRP and $300 million in gross cash to its Nasdaq listing.
Shares opened at $16.68 and climbed to an intraday high of $19.39 before reversing, with XRPN ultimately closing its first session at $16.91 on roughly 1.29 million shares traded.
The company is backed by institutional investors including Ripple, Pantera Capital, Kraken, SBI Group, and Arrington Capital, and plans to allocate capital to XRP ecosystem infrastructure, decentralized finance strategies, and other initiatives intended to expand the token’s utility.
Notably,
Evernorth expects to ring Nasdaq’s closing bell on October 14.
However, traders should note that the debut has not moved XRP’s token price upward.
The listing itself does not require major new token purchases, as much of Evernorth’s XRP was contributed before trading began.
Running parallel to the Wall Street milestone was the public disclosure of a serious security scare.
The XRP Ledger closed a critical integer-overflow vulnerability in its payment engine that had existed for roughly a decade and could have allowed an attacker to generate and spend new XRP in violation of the network’s fixed-supply rules.
The researcher who reported it said a single crafted transaction could create 18 trillion XRP, or 184 times the intended 100 billion supply.
The vulnerability was reported on September 22, 2026, by researcher Cayden Liao through the XRPL Bug Bounty program, and RippleX, Ripple’s developer arm, confirmed the issue.
The fix shipped in xrpld 3.4.1 on September 25, more than four in five validators on the default UNL had upgraded to it the same day, and the October 9 disclosure report says there is no evidence the bug was ever exploited on a public network.
For XRP holders, this is a net positive: the ledger’s 100-billion supply cap held firm, and the swift coordinated response demonstrated the network’s security governance working as designed.
Also announced this week,
Standard Chartered launched institutional custody for Ripple USD (RLUSD), Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin, on the XRP Ledger, available through the bank’s branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
The bank is working with Ripple and LMAX Group to let eligible institutions use RLUSD as trading collateral, though that collateral arrangement is not live yet and remains subject to testing, documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal approvals.
On the institutional adoption front,
Ripple announced a partnership with Meritz Securities on October 14, 2026, to advance tokenization and custody solutions in South Korea — its fourth institutional adoption deal in the country this year, following Kyobo Life Insurance, Kbank, and Jeonbuk Bank.
The announcement concerns exploration of custody and tokenization services and does not say that Meritz has launched a product, issued a security on the XRP Ledger, or committed to use XRP.
Still,
the timing is driven by Korea’s tokenized-securities rules taking effect February 4, 2027, as both firms position infrastructure ahead of the deadline.
None of this has lifted the token price.
XRP has fallen 6.91% over the past seven days to $1.36, leaving the cryptocurrency below the $1.40 resistance level as technical indicators show continued selling pressure.
Trading volume slowed sharply, down 32.37% to $2.57 billion over the past day.
Chart analysis shows $1.35 as the nearest support level, followed by a stronger buying area between $1.30 and $1.32.
What to watch next: whether the XRPN Nasdaq closing-bell ceremony on October 14 generates fresh momentum for the stock, whether XRP’s token price can reclaim the $1.40 level that has capped recent bounces, and how U.S. inflation data released today shapes broader crypto market sentiment heading into the week.
