XRP News Today: Franklin Templeton’s $150M Move Meets Ripple Swell — But Price Keeps Sliding

XRP news today is dominated by a striking split between bullish institutional activity and a token price that refuses to respond. Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest asset managers, added approximately $150 million in tokenized money market fund shares to the XRP Ledger on October 23,
expanding its presence on the network and lifting its total holdings there to nearly 193 million shares valued at around $200 million.

Before the move, the ledger held only about 48 million shares, meaning a single day’s subscriptions roughly quadrupled the on-chain total — through two batches of $75 million each.

The shares in question are Franklin’s sgBENJI token, a tokenized money market product that holds short-term US government debt.
The fund holds no XRP itself — it holds short-term US government paper — and issuing shares on the XRP Ledger costs only a negligible amount of XRP in transaction fees, meaning $150 million of fund shares translates into minimal buy pressure on the token.
That explains why XRP barely reacted.
The move does make Franklin the second-largest tokenized asset platform on the XRP Ledger, behind Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin.

For holders watching the price, the situation heading into the weekend is uncomfortable.
XRP is trading around $1.28, reflecting a 13.7% decline in October, and after briefly rising to $1.40 on October 21, it fell back to $1.28 on October 23.

The token’s all-time high stands at $3.65, and it is now trading roughly 64.7% below that peak.
Adding to the caution,
on-chain data from Glassnode’s Cost Basis Distribution Heatmap shows approximately 2.5 billion tokens last changed hands around $1.61, sitting at a roughly 19% unrealized loss and representing the largest supply cluster on the entire heatmap — a potential wall of selling pressure for any recovery attempt.
A second cluster sits higher:
approximately 1.948 billion XRP last changed hands in the $1.85–$1.87 range, creating another challenge further up.

On the ETF front, demand has cooled sharply even as the product lineup grew.
Existing spot XRP ETFs took in only $4.3 million in net inflows from October 19 to 22, with no new money recorded on October 23 — representing roughly 0.3% of total assets under management.

WisdomTree, which manages roughly $113 billion in assets, was awaiting its own spot XRP ETF ruling from the SEC with an October 24 deadline — the last of six XRP fund rulings closing out the agency’s crypto ETF backlog in a single week.
Analysts caution that a new fund entry is unlikely to dramatically shift the needle on its own, with one assessment noting that
ETF demand tracks XRP’s price more than the number of available funds.

On-chain flows tell a more nuanced story.
More than 5 billion XRP left exchange platforms over the past 30 days, with CryptoQuant putting the total at 5.3 billion XRP worth around $7 billion.

Binance recorded the largest outflows at approximately 2.206 billion XRP, followed by OKX with around 501.51 million and Bybit with approximately 479.94 million.
Large exchange outflows can signal holders moving tokens to self-custody rather than preparing to sell, though analysts note the pace has slowed from an earlier peak reading of roughly 6 billion XRP.

The single biggest catalyst to watch next is Ripple’s Swell 2026 conference, which opens this Monday.
Running October 27–29 at The Shed in Hudson Yards, New York, the event will feature BlackRock’s digital assets director and an IMF monetary chief on its invite-only Platinum Summit track, appearing on panels about digital asset strategies and stablecoin adoption respectively.

The event marks Swell’s 10th anniversary and merges the Swell conference with the XRPL Apex developer summit and the UBRI Connect academic conference for the first time, with more than 1,500 attendees and 100-plus speakers expected.

Ripple has historically used Swell to present product developments and institutional partnerships, and this year’s agenda includes topics spanning the first year of spot XRP ETFs, digital-asset custody, tokenization, and institutional liquidity.
Whether any announcements at Swell can bridge the widening gap between XRP’s institutional footprint and its token price will be the defining question for holders this week.
