Sui news today centers on two headline-making developments that arrived within days of each other — a leadership shake-up at Mysten Labs and a $30 million AI ecosystem bet — even as SUI’s token price continues to slide below the psychologically important $1 mark.
The bigger story for the long run may be the strategic pivot at Mysten Labs itself.
Mysten Labs, developer of the Sui Network, promoted Kevin Boon to chief executive, replacing co-founder Evan Cheng, who stays on as chief technology officer and leads a new AI business unit.
Boon joined four years ago as the company’s lawyer, later became chief legal officer, and has served as president for nearly two years. Cheng said the succession had long been planned.
The internal shift is less a sign of turmoil and more of a deliberate division of labor: Boon steers the company’s commercial and operational direction while Cheng gets to go deep on the technical frontier.
The new unit will build products anchored to Sui and the Walrus storage protocol, focused on ensuring AI agents act within authorized limits, following an October collaboration with Google Cloud on a Verifiable Agent Arbiter.
The unit operates with high autonomy to reduce reliance on external parties.
In plain terms, Mysten is betting that the next wave of blockchain utility comes not from traders or DeFi protocols, but from AI agents that need verifiable, on-chain rails to operate trustworthily.
That thesis got a concrete boost with the DATA Foundation deal.
Sui Foundation announced a $30 million investment in DATA Network on October 12, becoming its largest institutional holder as the AI training data protocol prepares to move to Sui and shut down its independent blockchain.
DATA CEO Andrea Muttoni said the team spent years attempting to tokenize intellectual property, raising $140 million but found it difficult to transform global IP licensing. The company rebranded as the DATA Foundation in June and now focuses on the AI training data market.
The company also plans to move its existing token to Sui on a one-to-one basis, with its current blockchain remaining operational until the migration is complete. Existing DATA tokens will move to Sui one-to-one, with holders retaining their rights and vesting schedules unchanged.
The partnership includes integrating DATA’s Trace registry and using Walrus as the default storage platform for AI training data.
For SUI holders and traders, the narrative is exciting but the price action is telling a different story right now.
SUI slid 3.55% to $0.92 on Binance spot on October 25, 2026, pressing against the lower Bollinger Band, having traversed a narrow $0.91–$0.95 range over the prior 24 hours on volume of approximately $35 million.
SUI is trading near $0.912, down almost 30% from its late-September peak of $1.28.
That correction has erased much of the strong September rally —
Sui entered October around $1.16 after a September that carried the price from $0.726, a gain of roughly 60.1 percent.
The supply picture is another weight on sentiment.
Sui’s fully diluted valuation sits at approximately $9.9 billion, with only 4.12 billion of its 10 billion total tokens currently in circulation.
That gap between circulating and total supply means ongoing dilution risk as more tokens unlock over time.
Three U.S. spot SUI ETFs recorded no creations or redemptions from October 20 to October 22
, suggesting institutional appetite via regulated products has cooled alongside the broader price pullback.
What to watch next: the $0.90 support level is the immediate line in the sand.
The first support sits at $0.90, with a larger zone at $0.78–$0.84 below it.
On the fundamental side, traders should monitor whether the DATA migration timeline gets fleshed out and whether Mysten’s AI unit produces any tangible product announcements — particularly further developments around Verifiable Agent Arbiter with Google Cloud. Any renewed ETF inflows would also signal that institutional confidence is returning. Sui news today points to a network with genuine ambition in the AI space, but the market is demanding proof before pricing that ambition in.
