Grass staking rewards have been quietly evolving into one of the most compelling passive income setups in the DePIN space, and if you’ve been sleeping on this network, September 2026 is a good time to wake up. I’ve had my node running for months, watching the points accumulate, and right now there’s a confluence of price momentum, protocol upgrades, and institutional attention that makes the Grass story genuinely exciting.
As of September 21, GRASS is up roughly 6.76% to around $0.377 in 24 hours, riding a broad crypto market rally.
That price action tells only part of the story, though.
Over the last seven days, Grass has outperformed the global cryptocurrency market — which is up 11.10% — posting a 28.20% gain.
For a token that spent most of mid-summer grinding sideways, that’s a meaningful shift in sentiment.
The bigger structural news is what’s happening under the hood.
A passed governance vote will share network USDC revenue directly with stakers, potentially creating sustainable demand if the reported $33M in annualized revenue continues to grow.
That’s not a promise — it’s an on-chain reality that changes the math for anyone already holding GRASS.
Season 2 token distribution, expected to release 170 million GRASS tokens to eligible network participants in H2 2026, is also on the roadmap,
which means active nodes running right now are actively positioning for that drop.

On the points side, the system has matured significantly.
Grass Points are now divided into two categories — Uptime Points and Network Points — and alongside these, participants can also stake GRASS tokens to receive long-term incentives and earn additional rewards.
Network Points pull from a fixed daily pool of 1,000,000, split pro-rata by real usage, meaning passive idling no longer cuts it the way it once did.
I’ve noticed this personally: days when my bandwidth is actually being routed to AI training tasks earn noticeably more than idle days.
There’s no minimum staking period, and rewards are accrued and distributed every second,
which keeps the setup genuinely flexible.
One underrated alpha play right now:
86.6% of Season 1 claimers have not staked, and while we can’t say definitively that staking is weighted in Season 2 scoring, the team’s repeated emphasis on rewarding “long-term contributions” makes skipping it hard to justify.
If you claimed Season 1 tokens and left them idle, you may be leaving points — and future airdrops — on the table.
The institutional signal is also worth noting.
A $2B investment platform highlighted GRASS as a key contributor to a 70% annual return,
and
Grass entered full trading mode on Coinbase in late August 2026, completing a rapid five-day process from roadmap addition to enabling limit, market, and stop orders — significantly improving the token’s liquidity and price discovery.
There are real risks here.
A major investor token unlock representing roughly 25% of supply concludes in late October 2026, posing a meaningful overhang if early holders decide to sell.
Nobody should size into this blindly. But for those of us already running nodes and stacking grass staking rewards day by day, the window between now and that unlock feels like one of the more interesting moments this project has seen. The combination of real revenue, a live staking mechanism, and genuine institutional interest puts Grass in a category most DePIN projects never reach. Keep your node running.
