XRP News Today: Ripple Wins Bank Charter and Locks In Robinhood Deal

XRP news today is being driven by two landmark announcements that arrived within hours of each other, confirming Ripple’s most aggressive push yet into regulated traditional finance. On October 26, the company secured its federal banking license, and on October 27 it announced a sweeping partnership with Robinhood — two developments that together reframe what Ripple is building and why it matters beyond the price of XRP.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted final approval for the chartering of Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), a federally supervised national trust bank.

Ripple first applied for the banking license in July 2025, and the OCC gave it conditional approval that December before signing off fully this week.

The federally supervised trust bank will manage the reserves backing Ripple USD (RLUSD), the company’s U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, and provide fiduciary digital asset custody services to institutional clients.

The bank cannot accept deposits or offer FDIC-insured accounts, limiting it to fiduciary services under OCC supervision.

Less than 24 hours later, Ripple stacked a second major headline on top.
Ripple struck a deal with Robinhood to expand the reach of its digital dollar RLUSD, with the partnership involving using RLUSD to settle institutional trades, automate Robinhood’s treasury operations, and expand access to digital asset trading and financing through Ripple Prime and Bitstamp.

Robinhood serves 28.6 million funded customers globally, giving RLUSD access to a large customer base.

RLUSD is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, and it is expected to reach the Robinhood app before the end of the year.

The Robinhood agreement spans three areas of Ripple’s product stack.
RLUSD becomes a key stablecoin across Robinhood’s digital asset ecosystem for retail and institutional use, and Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement through Bitstamp’s growing institutional business.

Beyond customer services, Robinhood will integrate Ripple Treasury to automate its global financial operations, with planned functions including cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments, risk management, and intercompany netting.

Despite the headline weight of these two announcements, XRP’s price response has been measured.
XRP, the native asset of the XRP Ledger that underpins the settlement leg of the Robinhood deal, traded at $1.32 as of roughly 22:00 UTC on October 27, up 2.2% over 24 hours with a market cap of about $83.7 billion, per CoinGecko.
The tempered reaction reflects a broader pattern:
XRP has faced strong selling pressure in October after recording gains between July and September, falling approximately 13% this month to trade near the $1.28 to $1.30 range.

On-chain data offers a more nuanced picture.
Daily XRP Ledger transactions surged on October 25, when the network recorded 3,718,664 transactions — the highest daily reading in six months and the first time the figure had crossed 3.7 million since April 8, 2026.
But that network activity contrasts with concerning whale behavior.
Santiment data shows the number of wallets holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP has fallen from 351 to 339 over the past few weeks.

XRP’s four-hour chart puts $1.26 in focus as critical support, with $1.11 and $0.98 becoming relevant only if that level breaks.

For holders, the OCC approval and Robinhood deal are structurally significant even if XRP’s token price has not yet reflected them. The bank charter puts federal oversight on RLUSD’s reserve management, which could accelerate institutional adoption of Ripple’s stablecoin — and institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger.
Notably, the agreement links Ripple’s $2.4 billion-plus stablecoin business to Robinhood’s 28.6 million funded customers, though direct XRP purchases are not part of the announcement.
That distinction matters: RLUSD growing does not automatically create XRP demand.

Traders watching XRP news today should track several things closely. Ripple’s annual Swell conference,
scheduled for October 27 through 29 in New York City
, could produce additional partnership or product announcements.
Separately, Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger
— a sign that real-world asset tokenization on XRPL continues to gain institutional traction. The $1.26 support level is the one to watch on the chart. A hold there keeps the current structure intact; a break below it would shift near-term attention to considerably lower levels.
