XRP news today is dominated by a major institutional development: Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of British insurer Aviva, has launched a tokenized share class of its £22 billion ($29.4 billion) Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, with Ripple serving as the blockchain technology partner.
Aviva Investors announced the launch on October 26, working with Ripple on the deal and seeding the new share class with a £50 million ($66.7 million) investment of its own.
That brings Aviva’s total committed capital across its two tokenized money market fund offerings — including a U.S. dollar liquidity fund share class launched in July — to more than £86 million ($114.8 million).
Aviva is using a digital-twin model in which fund holdings are represented on the XRP Ledger, while the corresponding assets are kept off-chain, maintaining the fund’s original investment objectives, risk profile, and regulatory protections.
The Sterling Liquidity Fund, which dates back to 2002, invests in high-grade, sterling-denominated short-term debt instruments and offers daily liquidity, and is domiciled in Ireland as a UCITS money market fund.
All of the fund’s underlying assets are held by custodian BNY Mellon.
What does this mean for XRP holders? The short answer is: less than the headline number implies.
The £22 billion figure refers to the size of the underlying fund, not money placed on-chain or into XRP.
Ripple’s announcement did not name XRP as a settlement or payment asset, which keeps any direct token demand from Aviva’s fund near zero.
Deals like this primarily increase demand for the XRP Ledger itself, boosting transaction volume and institutional wallet usage rather than directly affecting the token’s price.
The market’s reaction bore that out.
XRP was trading at $1.29 on Monday, down roughly 0.2% in 24 hours and approximately 16% over the past month.
The token has fallen approximately 13% in October and continues to trade in the $1.28 to $1.30 range.
On-chain data adds a note of caution:
XRP is approaching a support level that could determine whether the latest weakness deepens into a longer correction, with Santiment data showing the number of large wallets holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP falling from 351 to 339 over the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, the share of XRP supply that has been active over the past year dropped to a new yearly low below 50% in October 2026.
Not all signals are bearish.
Daily XRP transactions climbed to a new six-month high above 3.7 million, showing a recovery in network activity despite the price decline.
The XRP Ledger recorded 3,718,664 transactions on October 25, marking the highest single-day reading in six months and the first time the figure had crossed 3.7 million since April 8, 2026.
On the protocol side, XRP news today also includes a pending infrastructure update.
The XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment has been delayed until November 4 after a temporary decline in validator support interrupted its mandatory two-week approval period, less than two days before the upgrade was expected to activate.
The amendment combines corrections across token permissions, automated market makers, lending infrastructure, escrow transactions, and account authorization.
Validator support has since climbed back to 31 out of 35, providing a two-vote buffer as the fix begins its second activation attempt.
For traders watching XRP news today, there are two key dates ahead. The fixCleanup amendment is targeting November 4 for activation — assuming validator support holds.
The XRP Ledger lending protocol remains inactive, and even if the cleanup amendment activates on November 4, validators must separately approve the lending and vault features before those services can go live.
That lending vote, whenever it comes, could be a more meaningful catalyst to watch than individual tokenization announcements. Until then, the $1.26 support zone and the broader direction of Bitcoin —
which slipped under $80,000 as traders de-risked ahead of a Fed meeting
— remain the most immediate factors shaping XRP’s short-term trajectory.
