Grass staking rewards stopped being a vague promise the moment a governance vote turned them into actual USDC cash flow — and that shift is exactly why I haven’t closed my node once this year. If you’ve been sleeping on the Grass network, now is arguably the most important time to pay attention.
Grass is a DePIN protocol on Solana. The pitch is refreshingly simple: install the desktop app, leave it running, and the network routes your spare bandwidth to AI labs and enterprise clients pulling public web data for model training.
I’ve been running it in the background on my home machine for months. The electricity overhead is negligible, and the setup took under ten minutes.
What changed the game for me was the governance update that landed this summer.
A governance vote passed on July 7, 2026 to distribute a share of the network’s USDC revenue to GRASS stakers. The network reported $33 million in annualized revenue from selling bandwidth and AI training data.
That’s not vaporware — that’s a real revenue stream flowing to people who hold and stake the token.
Under the July 2026 governance vote, stakers gain claims on part of the USDC revenue produced by bandwidth and data sales.
On the business side, the numbers keep getting harder to ignore.
Grass disclosed $17 million in revenue for the first half of 2026, matching its full-year 2025 total. The company is profitable and forecasts $75 million in training-data revenue for 2026. Its roadmap includes launching a Contents API and Search API to move into the potentially larger market of live AI inference and retrieval.
And institutional money is following:
on September 29, 2026, Multicoin Capital announced a strategic investment in Grass through both its hedge fund and venture fund, backing the decentralized bandwidth network that uses crypto incentives to recruit over 6 million contributors who share idle internet for AI data collection.

The points model has also matured significantly.
Grass Points are now divided into two categories: Uptime Points and Network Points. Alongside this, you can stake $GRASS tokens, receive long-term incentives, strengthen network reliability, and earn additional rewards.
Network Points pull from a fixed daily pool of 1,000,000, split pro-rata by real usage. The model shift is important: passive idling no longer cuts it the way it once did.
If you want to maximize grass staking rewards, connection quality and regional demand matter more than just leaving a tab open.
There’s also a surprisingly wide-open opportunity hiding in the on-chain data.
Only 13.4% of Season 1 airdrop recipients have staked their tokens — the other 86.6% have not.
That means the staking pool is still relatively small, which is good news for those of us who are actually participating.
The best Grass staking rate currently sits at 5.96% APY on Stakin
— not astronomical, but remember that’s layered on top of the USDC revenue share and any future airdrop consideration.
The Grass Season 2 airdrop — officially called Stage 2 — is a live USDC claim that pays everyone who shared bandwidth between October 14, 2024 and June 8, 2026, with the claim window closing on January 22, 2027.
Nodes keep earning points after the June 8, 2026 snapshot, so anyone still running the Desktop or Android app is building activity a future round could count.
Price-wise,
GRASS is currently sitting around $0.63–$0.64, down modestly in the last 24 hours, with a live market cap of approximately $444 million.
The token is well off its highs, which means grass staking rewards accumulate at a relatively low cost basis right now — a setup that tends to look smart in hindsight.
From 2 million users at its 2024 mainnet debut, Grass grew into one of the largest DePIN deployments, reaching 8.5 million monthly active nodes across roughly 190 countries as of 2026.
The network effect is real, and I’m staying in.
